After the bread has finished baking in the Welbilt bread machine, do not immediately slice the bread after it has finished baking. Instead, you will get the best results by allowing the bread to cool 15 to 30 minutes. Place the bread on a wire rack and allow it to rest. If you want even slices use an electric knife. If you don’t have an electric knife, use a serrated knife. For square slices, slice the loaf of bread while it is laid on its side. Then slice across.
Allowing the bread to cool makes it easier to handle with your hands as well. Use slow, smooth, and long stokes. Make sure your knife is sharp; otherwise you may squish the bread while slicing. Don’t squeeze the bread too tightly while holding it. Use a firm, but gentle grip.
This is very important. For the leftover bread that is unused, make sure to store it in a tightly covered container and as air tight as possible at room temperature for up to three days. To store the bread for a longer amount of time, like say up to one month, you may put the bread in a freezer after you’ve put it in a tightly covered container. Because using the Welbilt bread machine to make homemade bread contains no preservatives, they don’t last very long. The bread tends to dry out and becomes stale faster versus commercially-made bread.
A good idea if you have some leftover slightly hardened bread would to used it to make croutons, bread pudding, or stuffing by cutting it into ½ inch or 1 inch cubes.
